Communication to Families

Family time has been in abundance for many!  Instead, I hope the week gave our families a break from trying to juggle home instruction and family time. As we return from the vacation, I am so excited to share with you the changes that have occurred to continue to provide robust and rigorous learning as we move into this second phase of our continuity of instruction.

I would like to provide you with some specific updates for our students and families at ICHS:

VIRTUAL SCHOOL SPIRIT WEEK

As we head back to classes, we would like to share our Inglewood Unified pride and unity through a Virtual School Spirit Week. Please share your pictures on your social media using: #WeAreInglewoodUnified

Wednesday: Crazy Sock Day

Thursday: Favorite T-Shirt Day

Friday: School Spirit Day

Continuity of Learning

You will notice that we have updated and upgraded our District website with new continuity of learning activities: https://ichs.inglewoodusd.com/

During this new phase, over the coming weeks,  your child’s teacher(s) will continue reaching out to you to provide direct instruction using on-line platforms and the phone. Please know that this type of teaching and learning is new for all of us, and we will certainly experience growing pains. I urge you to have patience with your child, yourself, as well as District staff.

Technology Distribution

We have distributed laptops for students who do not already have a device at home on the following days: IApril 7, 2020 and April 15, 2020. If you are still in need of a device, please contact me as soon as possible.

Food Distribution

We continue to distribute meals for students at seven sites throughout the district. Locations and times can be found at inglewoodusd.com.

On Wednesdays, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, at Hudnall Elementary School, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank will provide "Shelf-Stable Food,” such as canned  foods, to families in the community. Food will be provided in a box that can weigh up to 12-18 pounds. Supplies are limited to 260 boxes and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

On Fridays, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, at Hudnall Elementary School, the Social Justice Learning Institute and Food Forward will continue to provide 200 bags of fresh fruits and vegetables for families.

As we continue to make great strides in our transition to on-line learning, I want to thank you for your patience and commitment. We will continue our efforts to ensure that all students have access to the curriculum and to their teachers. Do not stop learning. Graduation may look different this year, but it is still around the corner.

If you have additional questions or feedback, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected] or your child’s teacher. Please stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Dr. Cain, Principal
